Can dermatologist give you a prescription to lighten your skin?

i have dark skin... and i want to become lighter. not like 5 shades but maybe atleast one or 2... do dermatologists do that? i heard they did..but im not sure. does anyone know what they give and the process? please dont tell me to love my skin when there are people practically baking themselves in the sun and no one is saying anything. Can dermatologist give you a prescription to lighten your skin?
dermatologists usually prescribe hydroquinone-based skin lighteners.. but hydroquinone has been banned in europe and asia because of its carcinogenic properties on skin.. if you want helpful tips on how to achieve this safely and effectively, get great tips here -

people say things about tanning all the time...

there are prescriptions out there...that lighten skin..but its meant for hyperpigmentation(sun damage) spots. or scars...not to lighten the entire face.

good luck
