Any doctor can give you the same stuff, but there is a difference. Most other doctors simply don't have enough experience with skin problems to know what drugs to try, and if they try one and it doesn't work, they don't know what else to try. I went to a dermatologist for both acne and eczema. When one treatment didn't work, I asked her if she had something else to try. She said, of course, there are a lot of other options, we'll just keep trying till we find what works. I had a horrible case of eczema, and what she gave me got it under control. She also gave me information on skin care to help prevent outbreaks that other doctors may not know. The difference between a derm and another doctor is simply more exposure to skin issues and more education on what treatments work.Am I better off going to a dermatologist?
