is it biology?? AA or AS??
how much schooling does a dermatologist go through??
thanksWhat do i major in if i want to be a dermatologist?
Everyone asks the same questions here, but no problem...
Pretty much just choose ANY major in undergrad. Ive known people go to Med School with a major in spanish or political science. Just make sure you keep taking your BCPM (Bio, Chem, Physics %26amp; Math). Also keep your GPA up, like at least 3.3+ and keep your MCATs high. Take a study course and get ready to take it in Junior year of Undergrad.
After that you will take the same classes as everyone first two years of Med School. Then comes clinical/hospital work. You will be an intern and choose what you wanna be/do.
Depending on what you want to do you may go for more education (ex: Anesthesiology, Surgery and other specialties).
For dermatology it doesnt require any extra education beyond the normal 8 years. What do i major in if i want to be a dermatologist?
You have to go to a 4 year college, but you can start out in a community college.
Follow the recommended courses for ';pre-med';: biology, chemistry, calculus, Anatomy and Physiology, etc.
Then you have to apply and get into medical school. When you complete that, then you can specialize in Dermatology.
Anything you want. Start with a 4-year college degree (bachelors) in any major, and take the premed classes in bio, chem, physics, math, and English. Keep your GPA over 3.5 and do well on the MCATs. Then you've got 4 years of medical school, followed by a 5-year dermatology residency. THEN you can take the licensing exams and get a job. You can start with an AS, but you'll still need to do the BS and MD.
Well, since Dermatology falls under the medical field, you could major in Biology, Pre-Med, Biochemistry, or something that will get you into Medical School. Then, after you have been there for like 6 years, you choose to specialize in Dermatology.
