Does anyone know any dermatologist near my area?

Hello, I'm trying to find a dermatologist to have a mole removal. So I was wondering, does anyone know any good ones that are within a 50mile radius of: Oakland CA, 94606? Thanks!Does anyone know any dermatologist near my area?
Its called goggle.

I've seen Dr. Graham in the Alameda office (though this site says he has an Oakland office too) and I've seen Dr. Paslin in the San Ramon office. They work out of the same practice. I would recommend both personality wise. I was happy with my appointments with both of them, though I had better luck diagnosing my skin condition (eczema) with Dr. Paslin .

Oh, and my brother just had a mole removed from his neck and I believe Dr. Graham was his doctor for that.

What is the dermatologist concerned about?A man visits a dermatologist to have a tatoo removed.Patients skin has yellow tint and referred to physician.?
Could be hepatitis. Jaundice is yellowed skin, which is a sign of hepatitis.A man visits a dermatologist to have a tatoo removed.Patients skin has yellow tint and referred to physician.?
Could be jaundice. Commonly seen in infants and young children but when adults get jaundice it is usually from a liver malfunction. The liver is not functioning properly so high levels the chemical bilirubin are not filtered out of the blood. Check out this website
Jaundice
Potentially hepatitis or blockage of the bile ducts which will call jaundice ( yellowing of the skin).

  • How much would it usually cost to go to a dermatologist if it's your first visit (I need to lance a boil)?

Dermatolitists are expensive. If it's not in a place where you're worried about scarring(face etc) then just go to your family doctor. He should be able to take care of it.

My dermotologist prescribed me two different acne creams. one for the night time and one for the day time.

After prescribing me those she immediately made a nurse apply a chemical peel on my face to dry out the smaller acne and releive my face of its redness and some marks.

The acne creams worked well not all i had left were post-acne marks. So every month now they give me a face peel to fade away the marks.

  • How do dermatologist remove warts ?

I have a couple of wats on my knee and this week I am going to get them remove. The last time i went to the Doctor the froze it. They did that a couple of times but it didn't work so i am going to the dermatologist to get it remove . What will happen ?

Will they numb it.How do dermatologist remove warts ?
Warts, moles and skin tags are all very common problems that most people burn freeze or have cut off. There actually is a natural way to get rid of these bothersome problems and get rid of them permanently in just three days. Just like you I tried everything and searched everywhere for a solution to my embarrassing problem when a friend of mine told me about a website that seemed to good to be true but I checked it out and I found the answer to my prayers. I was skeptical but it had 60 day money back guarantee so I figured that I had nothing to lose. You WILL find relief here.

Just click here http://tinyurl.com/cwog8r this will bring you to the information you need to solve your problem once and for all 鈥?permanently! I wish you all the best! How do dermatologist remove warts ?
This is going to sound really gross but i had a whole colony of warts on my foot. Over 40! I went to the dermatologist and she froze it and it sort of worked but then I used this over the counted medicine called mediplast (it was a tan pad with medicine underneath) and it worked amazingly well. The skin around the warts peeled back and everyday i would remove the dead skin with a pummus stone and put more mediplast on top holding it on with duct tape. It didn't look pretty but it really worked and every wart was gone within two weeks. You should really try it.

If you go to the doctor and she doesn't freeze it she might try to dig it out with a knife. I know it sounds painful but it is just dead skin so don't worry. My friend did that and it didn't really work too well. I strongly recommend mediplast. You should place it completely covering the warts and then to secure it more tape it over with duct tape. you can also use an ace bandage to secure it and i had to use both at once whatever works for you. If you use mediplast the skin will turn white and peel away and this is good it means it is working. You will not get scars from it but i wouldn't recommend wearing shorts untill you stop the treatment as it sorta looks gross. but i promise it worked for my 40+ it will work for you.

Good luck i understand the annoyance of warts!!!
You may want to try this. It works great for the warts I have and HAD on my hand. Working on getting them all gone, but didn't start this until recently.

Apple Cider Vinegar. Do this and it should work for you, it worked AWESOME for me. Get some Q-Tips, some apple cider vinegar, and some medical tape.

Soak one end of the Q-tip in the apple cider vinegar. Cut off the tip you soaked. Tape it directly onto the wart. I know it can be awkward because the tip is round and kinda large, but I think the little pressure it has down on the wart helps and I tried other things like makeup remover pads and they don't work. Make sure to tape it down both ways so that there really is no air that can flow freely onto the Q-Tip and your wart. It seems to dry out really fast that way and your wart doesn't get very soaked.

Tape it down before you go to bed and leave it on all night. Take it off in the morning. Do this for about 4 nights or maybe a little longer depending on it's size. It only took 2-3 days for my flat, smaller warts. Once you start seeing the wart turn black or many black dots inside of it, STOP! There are many people who said that this was very painfull. If it hurts REALLY bad then you're doing it to much. Stop and give it some time to die. If it doesn't die then try it again maybe longer, but it SHOULD NOT HURT. Some people claimed it did, so maybe in certain situations if it won't die without going through some pain maybe you'll have to. I had almost no discomfort and mine died. Don't leave it on all day either. It's overkill and will only lead to your good tissue dying to, and make it really irritated.

Hope this helps. It ended up being my saving grace.
burn it with hot ice but yet it is cold. yeah i just used the best over the counter most expensive product for it, and it did not work. so i read in national geographic that if you place the plush side of a banana peel in it for about 15 minutes a day, it will go away in about a week.
I've gotten a wart removed from my face and all they do is freeze and you must pray for it not to come back because that is usually what happens so you will probably end up getting it freezed off multiple times. Eventually, it will get taken care of.
They're gonna cut it out, stitch you up, and yes they should numb it.

Can a Dermatologist do anything for Chemical hair loss?

I hope so!Can a Dermatologist do anything for Chemical hair loss?
    Causes and Preventions:

A number of things can cause excessive hair loss (H.L). For example, about 3 or 4 months after an illness or a major surgery, you may suddenly lose a large amount of hair. This H.L is related to the stress of the illness and is temporary.

Hormonal problems may cause Hair to loss. If your thyroid gland is overactive or under active, your hair may fall out. This loss usually can be helped by treatment thyroid disease. This loss may occur if male or female hormones, known as androgens and estrogens, are out of balance. Correcting the hormone imbalance may stop your loss.

Many women notice hair loss about 3 months after they've had a baby. This loss is also related to hormones. During pregnancy, high levels of certain hormones cause the body to keep hair that would normally fall out. When the hormones return to pre-pregnancy levels, that hair falls out and the normal cycle of growth and loss starts again.

Some medicines can cause. This type of hair loss improves when you stop taking the medicine. Medicines that can cause include blood thinners (also called anticoagulants), medicines used for gout, medicines used in chemotherapy to treat cancer, vitamin A (if too much is taken), birth control pills and antidepressants.

Certain infections can cause loss. Fungal infections of the scalp can cause loss of in children. The infection is easily treated with antifungal medicines.

Finally, loss of hair may occur as part of an underlying disease, such as lupus or diabetes. Since hair loss may be an early sign of a

disease, it is important to find the cause so that it can be treated.

No. I am going through a law suit with Regis Hair Salons, as they applied a chemical straightener to my hair, and my hair fell out. Wait and see how much of the hair grows back in, and if a professional did it, contact an attorney. If hairloss is due to chemical process, and it does not grow back, you have what is called permanent follicular damage, which means that the follicle is dead, and can no longer produce hair. You will have to have surgery done by a surgeon that specializes in follicular transplantation.
';Derma'; refers to skin. It is not hair. Chemical hair loss my involve the skin, or it may be an internal problem. There is some overlap, but you need to ask the specialist if that is an area s/he has any expertise in. Dermatologists deal with medical problems. Hair is only cosmetic... it is not necessary to stay alive.
common sense says in order to stop it he too will recommend u to stop getting in touch with that chemical..

as far as regrowth is concerned it can happen only if it is initiated from the inside of the body.. these might help

How long does it take you to become a plastic surgeon v.s a dermatologist?

[ i am still in highschool]

but how long does it take for each one? [ after highschool]How long does it take you to become a plastic surgeon v.s a dermatologist?
A minimum of 12 years of college and post graduate training is required to become a dermatologist in the United States and Canada. This includes graduation from a 4-year college where they will take Pre-Medicine, then a 4-year medical school followed by a year of post graduate training in medicine, surgery or pediatrics (called an internship) after which a physician may apply for admission to graduate dermatology residency training. Dermatology residencies are the most competitive in terms of admission. The nation's most prestigious residency training programs include New York University, the University of Pennsylvania, Harvard, Stanford, and the University of California, San Francisco (known colloquially as the ';Big Five';). Following the successful completion of formal residency training in dermatology (3 years) the physician is qualified to take certifying board examinations (written) by the American Board of Dermatology or the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology. Once board certified, dermatologists become Diplomates of the American Board of Dermatology or the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology AOCD. They are then eligible to apply for fellowship status in the American Academy of Dermatology. Some dermatologists undertake advanced subspecialty training in programs known as fellowships after completion of their residency training. These fellowships are either one or two years in duration. Fellowships in dermatology include pediatric dermatology, surgical dermatology including Mohs micrographic surgery, dermatopathology (pathology of skin diseases) and dermatological immunology.

In order to become a certified plastic surgeon, a physician must complete seven years of postgraduate study which includes a thorough grounding in general surgery and a minimum of two years in an approved plastic surgery training center.

How much should I expect to pay the first time I go to the dermatologist??

I live in South Texas, and do you know any really good dermatologist in the Hidalgo area??

thanksHow much should I expect to pay the first time I go to the dermatologist??
Hi Princess... Most of the time, a doctor will charge anywhere from $60 to $100 a visit. A specialist can charge more. If they run tests, that will add to the cost. I would imagine that you can probably look at around $120 for an office visit. How much should I expect to pay the first time I go to the dermatologist??
Wow... Didn't know that I would be that close. Too bad they charge so much. Hope everything is okay. Report Abuse

i do not have the foggiest idea- but if i had to guess it will cost 99,45. plus any lab work. when you announce the winner if you have a firm price please post.
If you have insurance go to your primary doctor and get a referral, then it will be covered. Otherwise probably alot, I'm only guessing but more than over a hundred I'm sure, medicine isn't cheap these days.
do you have any medical coverage? i would look into getting some type of aid for your self. I don't know about in Texas but where i work in California, dermatology is a specialty and where i work and if you have not coverage it is a $250 deposit. That is not the bill, you will get a bill in the mail charging for everything that was done during your visit. including: speaking to the doctor, treatments, and anything that they used suck as gloves etc...during your visit. Look into some type of programs that the county you live my have. before you go, but if it is urgent your health is priority so go.

I have a little fleshy bump along my lower lashline. I figured it was an ingrown and would go away. But it's been about 6 weeks and is now sore to the touch.

    Thanks!

Eye doctor. You may have an infection there and need eye drops and perhaps some other intervention to clean the area out.Little lump along lower lashes, eye doctor or dermatologist?
Sounds like a sty. Here is a home remedy that works for my son when he gets one. He takes a tea bag and soaks it in boiling water and then puts the tea bag on his eye lid (only as hot as you can stand it) for about 20 minutes. It's the Tanic acid that does the trick. But for safety sake seek out a professional opinion if this doesn't work. Remember this is a home remedy so it may not work for you.
it sounds like a stye. you get them from make up and things. try putting a hot cloth on it for 15 minutes at least 3 times a day for a few days and if it doesn't go away, then see a doctor.
I would see the doctor first and let him refer you to a dermatologist if needed. The doctor is cheaper than a dermatologist.

The answer is the same as for those who wanted to be an OB/GYN, a pediatric surgeon, a cardiologist, and various other medical specialties and sub- (and even sub-sub- ) specialties.

What you need to take to get into medical school and prepare for success in and after medical school is going to be basically the same regardless of what specialty you think you might pursue. (By the way, it's not at all uncommon to leave medical school with a very different professional direction than when one entered.) And MOST of medical school will still be just the same regardless. Most of the divergence will be after medical school.

Most insurances will on pay for a doctor and then the doctor has to recommend a dermatologist. If you do not have insurance go straight to the dermatologist, it will save you the cost of a doctor visit.Do i go to a doctors first or go straight to a dermatologist?
A dermatologist is a specialist doctor, so it depends on whether or not your insurance requires an Rx to see a specialist first to pay for it. Some insurances do, and others do not.
depending on the issue if you think that it looks bad then go straight to the dermatologist.BUT first i would look it up on the internet then if you make a diagnosis and it says the condition isn't that bad go to the doctor see if he thinks it's bad BUT go immediately after making your diagnosis!!!!!

    Hope this helps honey.
if you have insurance, go to the doctor first! Unless you're really rich, then I'm betting you have insurance

Have you been to a Dermatologist before?

I've been referred to see a dermatologist next week by my doctor for my first consultation, and I'm not actually sure what to expect? I'm a bit scared actually lol. Do they take blood samples or what? Or is the first appointment just a chat or something?

Any information will be greatly appreciated! Thanks xHave you been to a Dermatologist before?
I was referred to the Dermatologist last year and you will be so happy you did.

My skin is near perfect now (the only down side is where the spots were around my nose, i now have quite big pores, but better than spots!)

Basically, they have a chat with you, tell you the side effects etc etc.

Then you have a blood test and cos we're girls we have to give urine samples cos the tablets (i had roaccutane) are really harmful to babies, so they have to make sure your not pregnant.

Then assuming your not pregnant they give you the medication, You get it at your first appointment, well i did anyway, i'm sure it would be the same.

You'll have better skin in no time :)

♥Have you been to a Dermatologist before?
I have been under the regular care of a dermatologist for many years. I have a skin condition called Rosacea which is similar in appearance to acne but unlike acne never goes away. I take antibiotics and use topical's as well. Because I'm a male Rosacea affects me worse than it does females. It is for that reason that I developed a secondary condition called Rhinophyma which has required surgery.

I suspect your visit will be for acne related conditions. Although there are many reasons, I suspect acne is the top reason for visiting a dermatologist. If I'm correct in my assumption your doctor will most likely not take any blood samples but if you have active lesions he might take a sample of the pus from one or two for culture. That will help him determine which antibiotics and topical's will be best for you over the long run. After you've been on medication for a while he will most likely order a blood test to make sure the medications aren't causing any unseen damage to your internal system. At my age I have my blood tested once a year. When I was young it was twice a year.

I hope my experiences will be of some benefit to you. There are lots of good skin medications on the market today so once you start your treatment your problems should diminish fairly quickly. If you have any questions I'll be happy to answer them for you. Good luck.
    Ya ,

even I was scared my first time,

I went ,cause I had this acne problem, but thanks to the doc.that I don't have it anymore now.

All they asked was about my food habbits,

and they suggested me not to take sweets and oily stuff etc etc.

and asked about my cycles ,just to know ...cause hormonal imbalance is the cause of acne and pimples ,so they just wanted to know about it .and then they examined my pimples and and gave me the medicines.

and told me the date of my next due visit.

and that was all about that appointment.

And I didn't need to go again, cause I was alright!

    Good Luck to you!

    Hope for the best!

additional- They didn't take any blood sample!

and i was so happy that they didn't ,cause I am so scared of those needles !!
    Yeah.

She keeps giving me things that don't work. She just guesses and prescribes. Thats it. Shes also a half hour late on some appointments, then got mad at us for being 5 minutes late once. Lol.

    Hopefully, that's just mine.
no haha no blood samples, it really depends on what part of your skin your going for, they take skin samples and stuff, nothing hurts, they put on gels and stuff.
    No.I have perfect skin.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but, individual health insurance is subject to underwriting, meaning that if you have any health issues you can be denied coverage. Severe acne is a chronic condition and treatment with Accutane is very expensive Therefore it is going to be difficult for you to obtain coverage, except through a group (employer sponsored) plan. Still, you should call a local broker and ask for a prescreen to see what's available in your area.

  • My 21 yrs old sister has moderate acne scar could a microdermabrasion treatment done by a dermatologist help?

This might help to some degree. Seeing a dermatologist in general might help as they can recommend pharmasutical strength formulations that might be useful for her. Microdermabrasion helps to remove dead cell layers and refine the skin's surface, this often helps with acne as it cleans out the pores extensively. Scars are very hard to remove. The skin in the area is tougher than the rest of your skin and needs to be softened. Some people find Vitamin E to be helpful. You can buy Vit. E oil in the drug store, or simply get a bottle of Vit. E capsules at a vitamin shop and use those as single serve treatments.

They have some clinical products that are known to help some people with bad scars, your dermatologist would be the best person to discuss these with. Sometimes in the cases of bad acne scarring, a chemical peel is a good way to go as it forces the skin to regenerate a new layer. See what the doctor says and tell her to keep her expectations realistic. It is extremely unfortunate to have acne scars and they are especially upsetting for women.

I wish you both the best of luck!!!My 21 yrs old sister has moderate acne scar could a microdermabrasion treatment done by a dermatologist help?

Has anyone seen a dermatologist for acne?

I'm going soon and I was just wondering what to expect or what they would give me... something to help I hope!Has anyone seen a dermatologist for acne?
Depending if you have major acne they might give you something strong a face wash and a creme. I used a gel like creme for minor acne I would get every once and awhile called Duac it worked great.Has anyone seen a dermatologist for acne?
actually, i just went to my normal doctor, and they recommened many things for me. it works great! ask them for 'retina' if your acne is really bad, or if its just in a few places then get 'klaron' i am currently using the klaron and it works awesome! the retina works good too, but it tends to dry out the face a little.

    good luck =]
unless you have really bad acne, they will tell you to go to walmart and buy some nuetragina face wash and some other stuff that is cheap....but if its really bad they will give you this gel called deferin. it dries out your skin and cleans your pores but if your face dries out it gets really red and looks worse than you started with...(there is more than one type of acne so it differs too)
Yes, I did years ago. What the doctor prescribes depends on your age and the severity of your acne. In my case, I was given Differin and antibiotics.

Is there a certain name you called to a dermatologist that specialize in acne?

Is there a dermatologist that still prescribes generic form isotretinoin/ Claravis? for acne in NYC?

I know Accutane was pulled from the market this summer but the generic forms of isotretinoin like Claravis, Sotret are still available but due to the new iPledge program many dermatologists do not prescribe it no more and its very difficult to find but the best prescription out there for acne. Does anyone know of a derm in the city that I can go to???Is there a dermatologist that still prescribes generic form isotretinoin/ Claravis? for acne in NYC?
The cheapest way to fight acne.

Your acne is cause by your oily skin. Bacteria loves oily skin. Wash your face three times a day with only warm water. If you don't have access to a sink, use a tissue paper to dry your skin (gently patting it on your skin to soak up all the oil).

For spot treatments, wash (with only warm water) and dry your face then use an unscented alcohol base hand sanitizer (like germ-x) on the spot.

What are the requirements needed to become a dermatologist?

what are the requirements needed to become a dermatologist??..like what course to take in university.?? or what subjects u need to pay attention most and so on. plzzz help me!!!What are the requirements needed to become a dermatologist?
Those interested in becoming a dermatologist must first complete the requirements to become a medical doctor. These vary by country but typically include a four-year undergraduate degree. Common majors include chemistry, biology, and physics. Some colleges, such as those in Britain, offer pre-med programs. A graduate degree from medical school is also required.

As part of their general medical training, dermatologists must complete a first-year residency in a clinical setting focusing on internal medicine, general surgery, family practice, gynecology, pediatrics, or emergency medicine. Once the general medical components have been completed, students must then complete requirements related specifically to dermatology including:

鈥?A board certification or licensure examination

鈥?A three year, accredited dermatology residency program

    .

Courses included in a dermatologist鈥檚 training include:

    鈥?Biochemistry

    鈥?Calculus

    鈥?Dermatology

    鈥?Endocrinology

    鈥?English

    鈥?Microbiology

    鈥?Pathology

    鈥?Physics

    鈥?Physiology

    鈥?Surgical pathology

Some specific skin and related areas that are studied include:

    鈥?Collagen

    鈥?Cutaneous Immune System

    鈥?Dermal Blood Vessels Stratum Corneum

    鈥?Eccrine and Apocrine Gland

    鈥?Elastin

    鈥?Hair Follicles

    鈥?Keratinocytes

    鈥?Melanocytes

    鈥?Mast Cells and Their Mediators

    鈥?Pathophysiology of UV Irradiation

    鈥?Skin Signs of Systemic Disease

    鈥?Skin Signs of HIV Infection

    鈥?Wound Healing

Coursework also includes training in bedside diagnostic testing, record keeping, and patient counseling.

    Dermatology Careers

Those who pursue dermatology degrees have many career options available in the field of dermatology. In addition to working in a hospital or clinical setting, dermatologists may operate their own office. They may teach in secondary and tertiary settings, serve as management in health related businesses, work in research and scientific publishing, or sell and market dermatology products.

The medical training allows for transfer to other careers in the medical field. And those who are interested in dermatology but prefer to complete less lengthy training programs can pursue careers as dermatology nurses and physicians assistants in a clinic setting.

Sometimes you can buy vitamin E capsules, even at shoprite or something like that. But instead of swallowing them, bite or break them open and rub the vitamin E from the inside on your eczema once or twice a day. That should help you, but you really should get to a dermatologist if it doesn't. =)

Can my doctor (not dermatologist) prescribe an acne medication?

My dermatologist's number changed, and I can't find it now.

I don't want to have to go through getting a referral, so can I just go to my normal doctor about my skin? Can my doctor (not dermatologist) prescribe an acne medication?
Yes you can. I was prescribed minocycline by my family doctor which worked really well. Just talk to your doctor and they can determine which medication is best suited to you, be it orally injested or some type of cream. It doesn't matter if they're not your dermatologist.

Who can I go to about my skin, if I can't get to a dermatologist?

maybe you should try a local pharmacist or maybe even a make up store like Sephora if it's concerning the skin on your face..they're experts too and give great skin care tips.Who can I go to about my skin, if I can't get to a dermatologist?
I would definitely go to your local drug store or makeup counter. Ask someone who works near the skin products. I find that they know what they're talking about. Or, you could try going to a naturalpath.

  • Job Interview at Dermatologist Office - What to Expect?

I have an interview tomorrow for a medical receptionist position. What should I expect going in? What questions are they going to ask, you think?Job Interview at Dermatologist Office - What to Expect?
They will ask about your medical experience/education...as well as general office experience. They may have special software and will want to know your flexibility learning new software. Your computer skills in general will be discussed.

How good are you at multi-tasking (sometimes you'll have a patient checking in, phones ringing, and a bill to get together all at once...how well can you handle that)...

Wear business attire...always better to dress up than down (so suit if you have it, if not a nice button down shirt and pressed slacks). Wear minimal jewelry and minimal makeup. Use lotion on your hands before going in so they will be smooth (but not wet!). Don't wear a strong smell...

Be prepared to offer references and give them an idea of what salary you want. If possible, look them up online first and be prepared.

    good luck!

Is popping a pimple safe as long as a dermatologist does it?

School starts on june 13. (different country). Luckily I have like 4 weeks to clear my face. Is it safe for a dermatologist to pop a pimple for you?Is popping a pimple safe as long as a dermatologist does it?
Wash your hands a face. Place the finger nails on either side of the little buggar and squeeze the heck out of it. DIY is the best way. If you get enough pressure the little blob of pus will fly out of your face and go splot on the mirror. Just a suggestion - wait until the thing is ready. Squeezing one before its time will make the situation worse by forcing the problem deeper down into the skin. It needs to be large and hard before you apply the popping pressure. Wait for a day or two. And while some folk say they will just go away, not all zits are created equal. There are different ones and yes, some will just go away but the black headed ones will reside on your face for months if you don't remove them.Is popping a pimple safe as long as a dermatologist does it?
popping a pimple is safe period as long as you wash your hands before u do it and face afterwards. Just make sure not to over pop it or you could get craters and need plastic surgery to help that. just dont pop beyond getting the white out.
just leave it, it will go with time
well, that depends... Do you really want to spend the money to have someone pop a zit on your face if you can do it yourself? better yet take a supplement of chromium piccolinate which you can find in most drug store's herbal section (next to the vitamins) and you'll have fewer pimples to begin with. Best of luck to you. I hope this advice helps you. -James
it wont kill you, so i deem it safe....

my aunt is a dermatologist, and she says you should never pop a pimple....

main problem with that - the natural oil from your fingers gets caught up in the mix and causes the follice to become infected if you havent washed your hands....

What will the dermatologist prescribe me for my acne?

i am going to the dermotologist next friday for my moderate acne, i do want to try roaccutane but will he actually give it to me if i ask him to go on it?What will the dermatologist prescribe me for my acne?
Acne and many other problems in the body are caused by what are known as free radicals. We take them into our bodies in many ways from pollution in the air and water, smoking and eating crappy, greasy fast foods and by ingesting processed sugars, just to name a few of the culprits and diseases as serious as cancer are believed to be caused by free radical poisoning.

Our bodies natural defense against free radicals are known as antioxidants. Because of nutrient deficient and over worked soil even the fruits and veggies we eat to get our antioxidant levels up can leave us well short of the actual antioxidant levels we need to successfully combat these free radicals sso we need a supplement.

I have had problems with my skin my whole life and through some good advice and a ton of research I found what's probably one of the most antioxidant rich foods on the planet. It's called NONI JUICE. Noni juice is ultra rich in antioxidants and nutrients. Only a few weeks after I started drinking Noni Juice my energy levels rose, my skin and hair became clear and softer, my nails were healthier and grew quicker and my appetite was also more suppressed because I was feeing my body what it needed and not just some fast food garbage that stuffs us and makes us fat but doesn't give us the nutrients we need. Noni Juice was a great help in conquering my skin and acne problems and I know it can work for you. What will the dermatologist prescribe me for my acne?
Only the doctor knows what they will give you. Probably will start on a topical though.
    might have to ask him

Are minors allowed to ever go to the dermatologist alone?

I used to go with my mom when I was young. But now it would be awkward if I go with her because I am a 15 year old guy....and it's been a long time since I went and my skin is going rough right now.

Do you think minors are allowed to go without any adult? Are minors allowed to ever go to the dermatologist alone?
you don't want your mom to watch a lady pop your gross face? Are minors allowed to ever go to the dermatologist alone?
I believe your mom has to accompany you to any doctor's office, as you are a minor and cannot sign your own consent forms for treatment. That has to be done by one of your parents, but you should be able to go into the actual exam room alone while she waits in the waiting room.
What I did with my son was I spoke to the doctor and he saw my son alone then phoned me with the details. This enabled by son to speak freely with the doctor without my hovering over him. Ask your parent to set up the same arrangement.
I think your mom should go with you, but shouldn't be in the exam room. She can talk to the doctor about your conditions, prognosis, and treatments after the exam.
Just tell your mother that. Sounds like you are old enough to be aware of inappropriate touching so I would believe that you are old enough to see the doctor alone.
Yes, but there's no reason to be awkward. You're not the first fifteen year old with involved parents to need to see a Dermatologist.

  • How many years of college do you have to go to be a Dermatologist?

That will take more than 8 years of schooling.

First you will need a bachelors degree. Usually this is in bilogy or chemistry, but it cn be in anything as long as you get your requirements for med school completed. These include anantomy and physiology and organic chemistry. You'll have to do some research oneverything you will need. You should be able to find someone at tyour school to advise you in this.

Then you will need 4 years of med school. After that you have years of residency. You will specialize in dermatology towards the end of your education. The length of residencies and whatnot vary with specialty. I'm not sur ehow long dermatology takes.

You will also need to take classes after you compete college. This is necessary for just about any career, but doctors need a lot.

Check out this site for more information: http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos074.htmHow many years of college do you have to go to be a Dermatologist?
A dermatologist is a specialized medical doctor. So:

Four years for the bachelor's degree.

Three years (typically) of medical school.

(Internships and residencies and board exams)--licensure as a general practitioner.

More medical school (a year or two) specializing in dermatology.

(Internship in dermatology--national boards in dermatology)

And presto--you're a fully qualified dermatologist. Now cure all that acne!

If I want to be screened for skin cancer, do I see a dermatologist?

Or is there another type of doctor or specialist that does this type of testing?

My father died of skin cancer when he was 33 years old. I'm 25 now, with fair skin and freckles that i've had all my life and a few moles. I keep meaning to get myself checked, but I never have. Any information would be great! If I want to be screened for skin cancer, do I see a dermatologist?
I'm not sure the specifics, but I would see your family doctor if possible to have a check up, in order to get a referral screening with a dermatologist.

In the meantime, be sure to wear your sunscreen! I can't stress that enough.

If you're concerned about your moles, there are self screening tests here:

Specialists often recommend the ABCD rule in checking for melanomas. These letters come from the following steps:

    * A symmetry. Moles are normally round. If a mole begins to take an unusual (asymmetric) shape, it may be cancerous.

    * B order. A normal mole has a clear-cut border with the surrounding skin. A cancerous mole has an uneven border.

    * C olor. Normal moles are tan or brown. A cancerous mole may be any mixture of red, white, blue, brown, purple, and/or black.

    * D iameter. A normal mole is usually less than 5 millimeters (.25 inches) in diameter. Any mole that grows larger than that size may be cancerous. If I want to be screened for skin cancer, do I see a dermatologist?
A visit to your doctor will get you a referral to a dermatologist. You could maybe try to get in to see the one where your Brother went. I don't know where you live, but here in Aust, we have skin cancer clinics for which you need no referral and they bulk bill.
with your family history and your complexion you need to go see a dermotologists for sure. I need to go myself.
I had a lesion biopsied at a dermatologist just a bit ago. That's the person to see, yes. They sent it out to a lab, just as a family doctor would have. My family doctor referred me to her.
A dermatologist is a good idea.

If your brother lives near you, the doctor he went to would also be a good bet.

If I want to remove a big protruding mole beside my right eye, do I go to a plastic surgeon or dermatologist?

i would like to do it in Thailand. Anyone has done it before and would like to recommend their doctors? I really hope there wouldn't be any scars since its on my face.If I want to remove a big protruding mole beside my right eye, do I go to a plastic surgeon or dermatologist?
Well I would personally talk to your GP, they can probably tell you what kind of places and procedures to use and look out for. They may also be able to give you a quick fix at your local hospital instead of Thailand, but wherever.

    Good luck

*Angel*If I want to remove a big protruding mole beside my right eye, do I go to a plastic surgeon or dermatologist?
dermatologist. i have a couple moles, myself, but the doctor i went to (for my foot) said to take it out by the root (via surgery) but it would leave a little crater-like divit in the skin. see what you want to do. i leave my moles alone because of the divits in my skin that they would leave if i got them out. plus i need a break from surgeries. i had a gallbladder taken out a couple months ago, and my dad says next time i need an operation, he'd let me die. jokingly of course, so don't judge him.
I would first go to a dermatologist to see what he has to say about that mole. He may recommend a plastic surgeon to remove it, but first the dermatologist may have to look at the mole to see if there could be any complications by removing it.
I'd think a ';big'; mole would require surgery, so see a plastic surgeon. Dermatologists are more for freezing off small wart, skin rashes, etc.

    Good luck!

    dermatologist
You'd go to a plastic surgeon.

My dermatologist just prescribed me Retin-A-Micro and I'm breaking out really bad. What make-up can I use?

to cover it up and how can I hide my scars really good? Is there a way I can make them not visible at all?My dermatologist just prescribed me Retin-A-Micro and I'm breaking out really bad. What make-up can I use?
Retin A does that. you break out real bad for 1-2 weeks then it goes away for good. I've been on it for almost 2 years and my skin is so much better than before. all i can say is stick it out and it won't last much longer. Make-up will probably only irritate it and make it worse. My dermatologist just prescribed me Retin-A-Micro and I'm breaking out really bad. What make-up can I use?
    i don't know, wish you l o l.
my wife uses Bare Minerals, and she looks OOH SOOO HOT!!!
Well I don't think anything would make every blemish completley gone =D

But my sister uses the Retin-A also! She uses ( and so do I ) Bare Minerals. Its super light, but has AMAZING coverage. She has bad acne sometimes and it makes it look soo much better, sometimes you can even hardly tell it's there. And, You can hardly tell she is wearking makeup because its so light and natural. They sell it at Sephora in a starters kit for about 60$ But its worth it. They also have many different shades. It works wonders, trust me =]

    Hope I helped! :]
Don't put makeup on your face just yet. Your skin is reacting to it because it is not used to Retin-A. That's some very powerful stuff.

Give it another week for your skin to get used to it. Then, the makeup world is yours for the taking

    :)
Yes, dermablend is a great line of makeup available at Macy's stores. It works amazingly well. However, if you want the beak outs to get better, I'd suggest no makeup at all. I know it's hard, but time will improve the situation. I am also on Retin-A micro, and have been on it for a while. I do not wear any makeup anymore. My skin has improved wonders. Hope this helps!
MAC is good coverage, and doesn't clog. Jane Iredale is nice too but the coverage isnt good. It is very healthy for your skin though.
