To go to a dermatologist, do i need a referall from a doctor?

Do i have to go through the doctor (like get a recommendation) or can i just book an appointment with any dermatologist?To go to a dermatologist, do i need a referall from a doctor?
Call the dermatologists office and ask. They answer this question a hundred times a day. They will tell you, as this is the surest way they will get paidTo go to a dermatologist, do i need a referall from a doctor?
That depends on your insurance. Take a look at your insurance card, if you see that it says HMO or Medical Group (maybe on the back), then yes you need to get a referral from your primary care physician. If your card has PPO on it, then no you don't. If you do have a PPO plan, make sure the doctor you are going to see is in your insurance network. If he/she isn't, you may have a higher coinsurance/deductible.





If you're still not sure what plan you have, you can call your insurance and they will tell you.
