Why do people choose a plastic surgeon over a dermatologist.?

When having a mole removed is it better to go to a plastic surgeon? I have gone to the dermatologist before and now im left with an ugly scar. Someone had told me that I should have got it done at a plastic surgeon because there would be no scaring. Is this true? Im guessing a plastic surgeon would charge alot more also right? The mole is on my face I might have to get another one removed is it better to go to a plastic surgeon? What do you think? Why do people choose a plastic surgeon over a dermatologist.?
The thing you want to keep in mind is that a dermatologist will almost definitely send any samples to pathology to check for any abnormal cellular activity. I can't swear one way or another, but I wouldn't automatically assume that a cosmetic surgeon would do the same. It's a question you need to ask of the doctor you choose for the procedure. If the mole has been there your entire life then it might not be such a concern but if you recently developed this mark, you should really have it done by a dermatologist.

And don't automatically assume that a plastic surgeon will leave you blemish-free. Depending on the size, you will most likely be left with a scar. But the skill of the physician and your body's ability to heal (plus the assumption that you will avoiding sun tanning while healing) are what ultimately determines your outcome. If you can find a plastic surgeon with whom you feel comfortable and are satisfied that they will send your specimen to the path lab, then go for it.Why do people choose a plastic surgeon over a dermatologist.?
I guess that depends on the reasoning for getting the scar removed. If you are getting it removed because it is suspicious for cancer then definitely go to a dermatologist. If it's purely cosmetic, then maybe you should go to a plastic surgeon. Better yet, why not find a dermatologic surgeon. They are trained in dermatology and reconstruction. Also, something to consider is that you just may be the type of person that scars. Some people are more prone to scarring.
