How many years of college do you have to go to be a Dermatologist?

That will take more than 8 years of schooling.

First you will need a bachelors degree. Usually this is in bilogy or chemistry, but it cn be in anything as long as you get your requirements for med school completed. These include anantomy and physiology and organic chemistry. You'll have to do some research oneverything you will need. You should be able to find someone at tyour school to advise you in this.

Then you will need 4 years of med school. After that you have years of residency. You will specialize in dermatology towards the end of your education. The length of residencies and whatnot vary with specialty. I'm not sur ehow long dermatology takes.

You will also need to take classes after you compete college. This is necessary for just about any career, but doctors need a lot.

A dermatologist is a specialized medical doctor. So:

Four years for the bachelor's degree.

Three years (typically) of medical school.

(Internships and residencies and board exams)--licensure as a general practitioner.

More medical school (a year or two) specializing in dermatology.

(Internship in dermatology--national boards in dermatology)

And presto--you're a fully qualified dermatologist. Now cure all that acne!
