I've seen Dr. Graham in the Alameda office (though this site says he has an Oakland office too) and I've seen Dr. Paslin in the San Ramon office. They work out of the same practice. I would recommend both personality wise. I was happy with my appointments with both of them, though I had better luck diagnosing my skin condition (eczema) with Dr. Paslin .
Oh, and my brother just had a mole removed from his neck and I believe Dr. Graham was his doctor for that.

Dermatolitists are expensive. If it's not in a place where you're worried about scarring(face etc) then just go to your family doctor. He should be able to take care of it.

After prescribing me those she immediately made a nurse apply a chemical peel on my face to dry out the smaller acne and releive my face of its redness and some marks.

This is going to sound really gross but i had a whole colony of warts on my foot. Over 40! I went to the dermatologist and she froze it and it sort of worked but then I used this over the counted medicine called mediplast (it was a tan pad with medicine underneath) and it worked amazingly well. The skin around the warts peeled back and everyday i would remove the dead skin with a pummus stone and put more mediplast on top holding it on with duct tape. It didn't look pretty but it really worked and every wart was gone within two weeks. You should really try it.
If you go to the doctor and she doesn't freeze it she might try to dig it out with a knife. I know it sounds painful but it is just dead skin so don't worry. My friend did that and it didn't really work too well. I strongly recommend mediplast. You should place it completely covering the warts and then to secure it more tape it over with duct tape. you can also use an ace bandage to secure it and i had to use both at once whatever works for you. If you use mediplast the skin will turn white and peel away and this is good it means it is working. You will not get scars from it but i wouldn't recommend wearing shorts untill you stop the treatment as it sorta looks gross. but i promise it worked for my 40+ it will work for you.

You may want to try this. It works great for the warts I have and HAD on my hand. Working on getting them all gone, but didn't start this until recently.
Apple Cider Vinegar. Do this and it should work for you, it worked AWESOME for me. Get some Q-Tips, some apple cider vinegar, and some medical tape.
Soak one end of the Q-tip in the apple cider vinegar. Cut off the tip you soaked. Tape it directly onto the wart. I know it can be awkward because the tip is round and kinda large, but I think the little pressure it has down on the wart helps and I tried other things like makeup remover pads and they don't work. Make sure to tape it down both ways so that there really is no air that can flow freely onto the Q-Tip and your wart. It seems to dry out really fast that way and your wart doesn't get very soaked.
Tape it down before you go to bed and leave it on all night. Take it off in the morning. Do this for about 4 nights or maybe a little longer depending on it's size. It only took 2-3 days for my flat, smaller warts. Once you start seeing the wart turn black or many black dots inside of it, STOP! There are many people who said that this was very painfull. If it hurts REALLY bad then you're doing it to much. Stop and give it some time to die. If it doesn't die then try it again maybe longer, but it SHOULD NOT HURT. Some people claimed it did, so maybe in certain situations if it won't die without going through some pain maybe you'll have to. I had almost no discomfort and mine died. Don't leave it on all day either. It's overkill and will only lead to your good tissue dying to, and make it really irritated.

I have a little fleshy bump along my lower lashline. I figured it was an ingrown and would go away. But it's been about 6 weeks and is now sore to the touch.

I was referred to the Dermatologist last year and you will be so happy you did.
My skin is near perfect now (the only down side is where the spots were around my nose, i now have quite big pores, but better than spots!)
Basically, they have a chat with you, tell you the side effects etc etc.
Then you have a blood test and cos we're girls we have to give urine samples cos the tablets (i had roaccutane) are really harmful to babies, so they have to make sure your not pregnant.
Then assuming your not pregnant they give you the medication, You get it at your first appointment, well i did anyway, i'm sure it would be the same.
You'll have better skin in no time :)

I have been under the regular care of a dermatologist for many years. I have a skin condition called Rosacea which is similar in appearance to acne but unlike acne never goes away. I take antibiotics and use topical's as well. Because I'm a male Rosacea affects me worse than it does females. It is for that reason that I developed a secondary condition called Rhinophyma which has required surgery.
I suspect your visit will be for acne related conditions. Although there are many reasons, I suspect acne is the top reason for visiting a dermatologist. If I'm correct in my assumption your doctor will most likely not take any blood samples but if you have active lesions he might take a sample of the pus from one or two for culture. That will help him determine which antibiotics and topical's will be best for you over the long run. After you've been on medication for a while he will most likely order a blood test to make sure the medications aren't causing any unseen damage to your internal system. At my age I have my blood tested once a year. When I was young it was twice a year.
I hope my experiences will be of some benefit to you. There are lots of good skin medications on the market today so once you start your treatment your problems should diminish fairly quickly. If you have any questions I'll be happy to answer them for you. Good luck.

and asked about my cycles ,just to know ...cause hormonal imbalance is the cause of acne and pimples ,so they just wanted to know about it .and then they examined my pimples and and gave me the medicines.
and told me the date of my next due visit.
and that was all about that appointment.
And I didn't need to go again, cause I was alright!

This might help to some degree. Seeing a dermatologist in general might help as they can recommend pharmasutical strength formulations that might be useful for her. Microdermabrasion helps to remove dead cell layers and refine the skin's surface, this often helps with acne as it cleans out the pores extensively. Scars are very hard to remove. The skin in the area is tougher than the rest of your skin and needs to be softened. Some people find Vitamin E to be helpful. You can buy Vit. E oil in the drug store, or simply get a bottle of Vit. E capsules at a vitamin shop and use those as single serve treatments.
They have some clinical products that are known to help some people with bad scars, your dermatologist would be the best person to discuss these with. Sometimes you can buy vitamin E capsules, even at shoprite or something like that. But instead of swallowing them, bite or break them open and rub the vitamin E from the inside on your eczema once or twice a day. That should help you, but you really should get to a dermatologist if it doesn't. =)

Yes you can. I was prescribed minocycline by my family doctor which worked really well. Just talk to your doctor and they can determine which medication is best suited to you, be it orally injested or some type of cream. It doesn't matter if they're not your dermatologist.

Be prepared to offer references and give them an idea of what salary you want. If possible, look them up online first and be prepared.

If you get enough pressure the little blob of pus will fly out of your face and go splot on the mirror. Just a suggestion - wait until the thing is ready. Squeezing one before its time will make the situation worse by forcing the problem deeper down into the skin. It needs to be large and hard before you apply the popping pressure. Wait for a day or two. And while some folk say they will just go away, not all zits are created equal. Do you really want to spend the money to have someone pop a zit on your face if you can do it yourself? better yet take a supplement of chromium piccolinate which you can find in most drug store's herbal section (next to the vitamins) and you'll have fewer pimples to begin with. What I did with my son was I spoke to the doctor and he saw my son alone then phoned me with the details. This enabled by son to speak freely with the doctor without my hovering over him. Ask your parent to set up the same arrangement.

Then you will need 4 years of med school. After that you have years of residency. You will specialize in dermatology towards the end of your education. The length of residencies and whatnot vary with specialty. I'm not sur ehow long dermatology takes.

I had a lesion biopsied at a dermatologist just a bit ago. That's the person to see, yes. They sent it out to a lab, just as a family doctor would have. My family doctor referred me to her.
A dermatologist is a good idea.
If your brother lives near you, the doctor he went to would also be a good bet.

Well I would personally talk to your GP, they can probably tell you what kind of places and procedures to use and look out for. They may also be able to give you a quick fix at your local hospital instead of Thailand, but wherever.

dermatologist. i have a couple moles, myself, but the doctor i went to (for my foot) said to take it out by the root (via surgery) but it would leave a little crater-like divit in the skin. see what you want to do. i leave my moles alone because of the divits in my skin that they would leave if i got them out. plus i need a break from surgeries. i had a gallbladder taken out a couple months ago, and my dad says next time i need an operation, he'd let me die. jokingly of course, so don't judge him.
I would first go to a dermatologist to see what he has to say about that mole. He may recommend a plastic surgeon to remove it, but first the dermatologist may have to look at the mole to see if there could be any complications by removing it.
I'd think a ';big'; mole would require surgery, so see a plastic surgeon. Dermatologists are more for freezing off small wart, skin rashes, etc.

Retin A does that. you break out real bad for 1-2 weeks then it goes away for good. I've been on it for almost 2 years and my skin is so much better than before. all i can say is stick it out and it won't last much longer. my wife uses Bare Minerals, and she looks OOH SOOO HOT!!!
Well I don't think anything would make every blemish completley gone =D
But my sister uses the Retin-A also! She uses ( and so do I ) Bare Minerals. Its super light, but has AMAZING coverage. She has bad acne sometimes and it makes it look soo much better, sometimes you can even hardly tell it's there. And, You can hardly tell she is wearking makeup because its so light and natural. They sell it at Sephora in a starters kit for about 60$ But its worth it. They also have many different shades. It works wonders, trust me =]

Don't put makeup on your face just yet. Your skin is reacting to it because it is not used to Retin-A. That's some very powerful stuff.
Give it another week for your skin to get used to it. Then, the makeup world is yours for the taking

Yes, dermablend is a great line of makeup available at Macy's stores. It works amazingly well. However, if you want the beak outs to get better, I'd suggest no makeup at all. I know it's hard, but time will improve the situation. I am also on Retin-A micro, and have been on it for a while. I do not wear any makeup anymore. My skin has improved wonders. Hope this helps!
MAC is good coverage, and doesn't clog. Jane Iredale is nice too but the coverage isnt good. It is very healthy for your skin though.
