Was your dermatologist able to clear up your acne?

Could your dermatologist clear up your acne? If they could, what products did they use to clear it up?Was your dermatologist able to clear up your acne?
my dermatologist gave me differin and benzaclin...you have to be patient. they try topical first and if it doesn't help then they can give you pills. so far my face has been clearer but you won't get the 100% finished results until the first 3 or four months. also, your skin changes as you get older so your medical prescriptions will also change over the years. Was your dermatologist able to clear up your acne?
I am a Registered Nurse and I specialize in skin care and teen acne.

After 12 years in this profession I find that most of my patients who deal with acne or brekout problems DO NOT SEE RESULTS from commercial products sold at drung stores or the mall. They usually contain too much benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid or sulfur which tends to OVER DRY the skin and cause itching or irritations.

Also, home remedies such as lemon juice or alcohol or toothpaste SHOULD NEVER BE USED because they cause small tears in the skin and leave the skin more susceptible to bacteria that causes pimples or acne.

Your question is very broad and you need to get professional advice. I will explain why it's a broad question!

Your age plays a role! Do you always have breakouts?

However, acne can result from several factors such an increase in hormone levels. In males testosterone or androgens. In females, androgens respectively. The increase in androgen levels can stimulate the oil glands to become enlarged and thus more oil production is produced. An increased oil production can clog the pores with oil or sebum ( white thick substance) which cause the cell walls of the pores in the skin to breakdown. This process allows bacteria to form and thus breakouts develop.

Genetics may also be a cause. It is a myth that greasy food or chocolate causes breakouts.

However, using make-up sponges that are not changed or washed often can contaminate the pores with bacteria which may develop into acneic breakouts.

Teenagers going through hormonal and growth changes are prone to acne.

If you have severe breakouts than you might need medication. There are many factors.

The most important thing is that you need products that are AGE APPROPRIATE! Every age group has different products appropriate for them. If you are young than you need milder products as to not dry out your beautiful young skin.

The problem with commercial skin products is that they are manufactured for MASSES OF PEOPLE and are not specifically made for different peoples' needs.

Your skin type is different than mine and your age differs from mine so how is it logical that we both use the same skin product for breakouts. We need different strengths of cleansers and toners. Do you kind of understand what I am getting at?

Here is my STRONG SUGGESTION for you. I refer all my students and patients to this website:

www.aboutyourskincare.com

You need to consult with professionals and on this website YOU CAN ASK QUESTIONS FOR FREE AND A SKIN EXPERT/PHYSICIAN WILL ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS. It would be a shame if you dont take advantage of this free service.

Lastly, they have incredible products for breakouts and they make them specifically for every kind of skin type. That means that if your breakouts are more severe than mine, than while we both will buy the same product yours will have stronger ingredients than mine will.

They have a mild glycolic acid cleanser that's great for your type of skin and also a DRYING LOTION ( I have 3 bottles) that you put directly on your breakouts and the next day it's gone. It's truely magic in a bottle.

A basic guideline for properly taking care of your skin is this ( now if you're a young girl you will need fewer products than this):

Night time:

1. Exfoliate the skin

2. Mild Glycolic Acid Cleanser

3. Mild Glycolic Acid Toner ( cleans off the excess debris and balances the PH level of the skin).

4. Drying Lotion used only on breakouts

5. Moisturizer

Morning:

1. Mild Glycolic Acid Cleanser

2. Moisturizing cream

The above is a standard you may need to only use one or two products. Visit: www.aboutyourskincare.com

As I suggested and click on the ASK FOR FREE section send them an email and you will get free expert skin care advice.

Good Luck to you,

Michelle

Does a dermatologist treat stretch marks?

I know that they deal with skin related issues but I'm not sure if they treat things such as stretch marks.

Do dermatologist treat stretch marks or am I going to the wrong doctor, if so which one should I go see?Does a dermatologist treat stretch marks?
Yes. A Dermatologist treats anything to do with the integumentary (skin). The only bad thing is many insurance companies do not cover most of the services a dermatologist performs so you usually have to pay out of pocket.

Is it best to get a chemical peel by an esthetician or by a dermatologist?

=)

thank you!Is it best to get a chemical peel by an esthetician or by a dermatologist?
Definitely a doctor.

Many people, because of the condition of the skin, ethnicity, skin thickness, etc., may end up with scarring or discoloration. Dermatologists should be able to provide the indepth counseling and diagnostic pre-procedure research needed.

Many estheticians are very good at giving massages or facials but much of what they tout is junk science. For instance, the scientific sounding names of ingredients that supposedly go into the cellular are a bunch of hokey!!!! There is no way to get cosmetic grade lotions, potions, etc., into the cellular level. Is it best to get a chemical peel by an esthetician or by a dermatologist?
I would have to say a dermatologist. First being her deals with the skin, he can determine if it is needed and safe to do. When it comes to the skin %26amp; especially the face, well you only have one face and for me I would only trust a doctor with certification %26amp; good credentials. Tale Care!!
dermatologist... btu honestly all those procedures are a wast of $$$ they dnt do a thing!
I would say go to a dermatologist because they have meds there in case they damage your skin.
It depends on the type of peel.

For glycolic acid peels you can go to an esthetician. For TCA peels, you should go to a dermatologist.

How many years of school do you have to go through to be a Dermatologist?

at least 4 years of college, then 4 years of medical school. then you would have to do your residency in dermatology.

What should I do to become a famous Dermatologist?

I am in Grade 9..I wanted to become a famous dermatologist But am a bit lazy.Pls suggest some measures to become active..What should I do to become a famous Dermatologist?
Hi, there famous dermatologist such as the two women who created proactive (acne solution) and the guy who created the VI peel (chemical peel). You have to become one first by studying hard in college. Now you can think about what you want to do, you can invent a type of acne solution in which everyone will buy, or a skin product which people need.

You get plenty of money if you invent something people need which they will buy. What should I do to become a famous Dermatologist?
There are famous dermatologists? Seems unlikely. Name one famous dermatologist.

  • I need to take my daughter to a dermatologist for her Eczema, what type of questions do i need to ask?

we need to ask the question as a review for my next military posting, some of the key things we are thinking of asking is; what is causing it, how does it compare to the average for Eczema and what are the long term ramifications. Can anybody think of anything else that may help.I need to take my daughter to a dermatologist for her Eczema, what type of questions do i need to ask?
make sure you find out what kind of body wash and stuff she can use. Including laundry soap. My bf and his brother have it, and they can only use a certain soap and detergent. Oh the eczema lotion by aveeno makes there's clear up too. You need to see if you can find out what she's allergic to, food or whatever. If she's really active (like sports) at school, ask if there's anything she needs to watch for during that, and if the temperature she takes a shower in matters. My bf always said hot showers and swimming makes him break out, but...who knows. Hope I helped.

Does dermatologist help you squeeze acne?

I have many stubborn acnes on my face that's hard to clear up.. I am thinking of going to a dermatologist and ask for help. Can they help? How much would they charge?Does dermatologist help you squeeze acne?
A dermatologist might prescribe meds or a cream. I am not sure how much it would cost.

If money is an issue, you might want to try going to an esthetician. They are skilled with all aspects of the skin and can give you a facial geared for your skin type and what you need. She might also suggest something a product for you to try. I hope this helps.
