Roughly how much would it cost to go to the dermatologist to have a few moles looked at and maybe removed?

My boyfriend has a few scary ones on his back, no health insurance and I want to make him get them checked out. I know what the red flags of moles are and I think he should go to see a professional. Anybody have a ball park estimate?Roughly how much would it cost to go to the dermatologist to have a few moles looked at and maybe removed?
$600.00 plusRoughly how much would it cost to go to the dermatologist to have a few moles looked at and maybe removed?
Most general practice Gp's can deal with moles without the intervention of a dermatologist. Using Dry Ice or one of the newer lines available from the chemist ( chemical freeze ( $40) can deal with sevral moles at one time.

Only the cost of the initial consult and the follow up for treatment and the ';Ice: will be needed to pay for so work out 3 visit costs and the $40 and you will be on average
maybe around $40-50 @ least i think so
you can ask friends or family if they know of a good dermatologist and ask them if he would take a payment plan, or he can borrow money, and return the money according to terms agreed by both parties. I'm sure it would be a reasonable sum.
I would say it's gonna be about $100.00 for the office visit, and another $150.00 for the mole removal.
No idea at all he can be seen by a regular Dr i had one cut out of my back when i was 10 by my family DR..
Probably about $80 for the visit, and $50-80 per mole. BTW--My suggestion is to ask! My wife had an issue and we had no insurance, so i urged her to call, explain we had no insurance, and then ask about prices. They told her all prices.

Side note-In the USA, medicine is still a ';for-profit'; business. Therefore, if you are in the US you can shop prices around. Id call and ask how much an appointment costs, find the least expensive one; go to the appointment to have the moles checked (you need to do that whether he has them removed or not to make sure they arent dangerous to his health); then ASk the doctor how much his clinic charges for removal. They must tell you. then you can budget for the removal. They should be able to tell you how much the whole thing costs on your 1st phone call, but Id go in for a check up 1st.--And you dont need a dermatologist to have moles checked and removed. A GP can do that for you, and are easier to get appointments with, and cheaper.

Hope that helps!

( BTW, sorry if you are not in US--i assume since we in the USA are the only western nation without nationalized healthcare-and you mentioned you didnt have coverage, that you are in America)

Does going to the dermatologist really work?

I HAVE NO ACNE AT ALL...but I have some blackeads on my nose....it's my only problem and uhmmm some uneven tones....... I'm just wondering are they really helpful? because I'm planning to go to one.....Does going to the dermatologist really work?
Actually a dermatologist can be really helpful. But not even doctors are all knowing or infinitely wise or smart. Sometimes they have to experiment with different drugs and products before they find the right one for their clients. Everyone is different and not everyone takes the same to the same drugs so you probably will need some patience. My dermatologist never had all the answers but he usually got to the right answer after trial and error.Does going to the dermatologist really work?
Listen, don't waist time for that.

But, If you want to get your nose area clean of blackheads , here is a good product Bio Glicolic Cleanser from bioageusa.com excellent for deep cleansing, uneven tone from pimples scare or sun damage?

Do i have to pay for anything to see a dermatologist ?

I have acne, and i am on the healthy kids prgoram. 14 years old.

My mom thinks its going to cost alot to see one, and for the products id need to buy for acne.

do i need to have the doctor refere me ??

and my mom thinks my acne looks fine...how can i convince her to take me to one :(

thanks !Do i have to pay for anything to see a dermatologist ?
Get a part time job and pay for part of it yourself if you really want to see a dermo. But most likely, they'll just tell you to use some really expensive products. Not only that, but there is so much you can research yourself. Honestly, unless you have some rare and weird thing happening to your skin, you should be smart enough to research the answer for yourself.

Among the treatments listed on there: Baking Soda! You can't get more basic or frugal than that.

There is a medication you can take, but it's only given by prescription. This promises to permanently clear up your acne, but should only be a last resort if facial washes don't work. I also know you have to take it for a few months - but don't try any of the acne cures sold on the market without prescription - the chance that you'll be buying 'snake oil' is high.

First try washing your face at least three times a day, and also after exercising or being sweaty in any way. *Also avoid touching your face, and washing your hands regularly will also help prevent contamination if you do touch your face (avoid leaning your chin on your hand, for example)* This step is crucial, and if you must touch your face, be sure to also be washing your hands often.

My dermatologist suggested Exfoliac facial wash to me and I have to say that I've been very pleased with it. I suggested it to my sister and she's been using it for a year and a half exclusively, and she's had no more problems with zits. It's produced by the company 'Merck' in France but I know my sister in Canada gets it there with no problem. The cost seems a bit high, but you only need a small drop each time to wash your face, and the cost comes out to be relatively low. use a facial washing sponge.

Also, use a good facial cream so your skin doesn't dry out from washing. I know it sounds weird, but this will moisturize your face AND keep some of the dirt you come in contact with during the day at bay.

Lastly, shower every day before going to bed (an hour before bed, so your hair can dry before you hit the pillow) and try sleeping on a fresh pillow-case every night - or at least every two and turning the pillow over between nights one and two.

Should i see a dermatologist first before i buy skin care in stores?

i dont want to waste time and money trying products i dont know that would help or not..im trying to get rid of dark circles under my eyes..they are hereditary...thanks!Should i see a dermatologist first before i buy skin care in stores?
I would definitely suggest seeing a dermatologist. It's well-worth the time and money to get an expert's opinion.

Here's my personal experience: I used to spend lots of money on acne products and just ended up frustrated for years. Finally, I decided to see a dermatologist. Turns out, I had nodular acne which can't be helped by any store-bought products. I got a prescription drug and my acne cleared up beautifully.

I've been told that there's not much you can do for dark undereye circles, but then again, I'm not a dermatologist :p

Best of luck!!Should i see a dermatologist first before i buy skin care in stores?
most dermatology products work the best because there is a better chance for you to try them for a long term.

And since we always stop using products we buy in the store because they don't work in a week or so, they never take their full effect.

so before going to the dermatologist you can ask your doctor what over the counter product you can use, and you should at least try it for full six weeks. if it doesn't than its time to go to a dermatologist for a stronger cream or even an oral prescription.
I mean unless you have good insurance you'd have a copay right, and thats anywhere from $15- $30 dollars, so that would be almost what you spend buying skin care products. I think that there are good skin care systems out there that could control your acne without going to a dermatologist, however if it is persistent after you've tried this, then go. I would recommend Clearisil Ultra, it works great for me, Neutrogena Daily Oil Free Acne Wash, and similar products with Clean and Clear. You should also look into a toner and a moisturizer. Clean and Clear makes an amazing spot treatment for persistent pimples. Good luck.
Have you thought about getting more fiber into your diet? I know it sounds weird but for me the more toxins I have in my body the darker my circles are. Fiber helps rid your body of toxins, water too, no chlorine though. I try to do things as natural as possible since the 9 different doctors didn't help our skin problems. Well, except the chinese herbalist. Good luck!

What the different between a normal nurse salary and a dermatologist's nurse salary?

What the different between a normal nurse salary and a dermatologist's nurse salary?

What are they salariesWhat the different between a normal nurse salary and a dermatologist's nurse salary?
Not much any more. The whole new system of paying nurses is complicated and completely useless. Basically the theory is that you get paid more for more qualifications/specialties/responsibilit鈥?but it doesn't work in p[ractice. One dermatologist could be on a different wage than the next and two nurses with the same qualifications could be getting different salaries in different trusts. It's a joke, basically. What the different between a normal nurse salary and a dermatologist's nurse salary?
Go be a nurse and find out.
Why on earth are you asking us?

    Try GOOGLE.
Some specialties are critical care nurses, er nurses, intensive care, etc. Dermatology is generally not one where increased skills are necessary. So the salary is probably just average. There aren't many life and death acne cases.

What is it that causes blackheads? I had a dermatologist tell me that it is not dirt but something in your?

diet? Any one know what those foods are that cause your pores to fill and clog? What is the best way to get rid of them aside from squeezing them? What is it that causes blackheads? I had a dermatologist tell me that it is not dirt but something in your?
Blackheads are caused when sebum (the skin's natural oil) collects and hardens in the pores. The congesting toxins that are being expelled through your skin from the blood and lymph fluid combines with sebum creating a pasty glue. The exposed tip becomes oxidized and black, hence the name - blackheads . Oily and combination skins are most susceptible to these. The skin's most dense oil glands are located in T-zone. That is why there you get the most blackheads.

Effective Tips to get rid of blackheads

Exfoliate the blackhead prone area 3-4 times a week using facial exfoliators and scrubs. Here is a good SCRUB for you to help you to get rid of blackheads

Use creams containing AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Fruit acids) like glyco-creams that will clear away any dead skin cells and ';expose'; the blackhead. Use the AHA's every 3 days or so.

Keep your hair away from your face. Greasy hair and skin go together, and hair can spread infection.

Sunshine or ultra-violet light encourages skin peeling, and so helps to clear blocked pores. So sunbathing or use of sun-beds in moderation can be helpful.

Avoid washing the face with soaps more than twice a day. Instead wash your face often with plain water splashes.

Often use a mask with a clay base such as ZIRH's Clay Mask ____

(To squeeze or not to squeeze? )

If blackheads look ready to pop out, you could try removing them gently by using a blackhead extractor. This is a neat little instrument with a hole at one end, available from chemists. Pressure around the blackhead helps it to pop out through the hole. Also, Pore cleanser strips (blackhead extractor) for removal of blackheads. are highly recommended for the treatment/removal of blackheads. Using them once per week will leave your pores cleaner and smaller.

Otherwise use your fingers. Steam your face first to soften both the skin and the material blocking the pores. Then wrap the fingers in tissues and gently roll against either side of the blackhead. If it won't budge easily, leave well alone, as too much pressure will bruise and break the skin, making your face red and blotchy for days to come, and possibly leaving tiny broken veins. Finish by applying a medicated cream to the empty pore.

Only ever squeeze a spot with a definite head that looks about to burst - pressure on an unready infected spot spreads bacteria below the skin's surface, infecting the surrounding tissue. Bad spots need a doctor's advice, and he may suggest antibiotic or even hormone therapy. What is it that causes blackheads? I had a dermatologist tell me that it is not dirt but something in your?
Well you are what you eat. So remember that.

But if you don't clean your face or have oily skin you get clogged pores.

I'd also be careful about what products to use - the more pure and natural the better for your skin and pores.

A hydrating wash, toner and cream (acne cream)

before washing take a hot wash cloth and apply to face.

    Drawing dirt to the surface.
    Check It Out
blackheads occur when your pores are open and pollution gets into them..I know that if you take a cotton ball with witch hazel after you wash your face will make them much smaller and avoid this ..I have found that it is also great for puffiness and irritation,,It is like a great skin toner.
Something in your diet? Is your dermatologist on drugs? It is way more complicated than that... But I guess he / she has no time to explain everything...

Blackheads are not dirt. Pores are partially open so some sebum still drains to the surface... Now listen... When your skin's pigment reacts with oxygen it gets darker - as if you would be on the sun... Just this reaction is stronger but on little spots right around and inside the pores... These are blackheads...

They are solid constructions and go away very slowly, you can't wash it away...

Diet would help eventually, but not directly with blackheads. But eating better food would make your metabolism more balanced, eventually increasing your body's immune system and this is what helps with acne... And eventually blackheads...

This is quite complicated to explain simple :D heh
